The California Seaweed Festival is coming to Monterey at the Custom House Plaza next to the Wharf!

The largest seaweed festival in North America will hold its 7th annual event at Old Custom House Plaza in downtown Monterey on October 24, 2026, to celebrate the theme “Dive In! to Seaweeds”

This free, public festival moves to a new spot on the California coast each year, highlighting the community’s unique relationship with seaweeds and the ocean. The event brings the public together with seaweed enthusiasts working in art, food, science, industry, conservation, Indigenous stewardship, and public policy. It is a fun and festive opportunity to learn about the algae that fuel the ocean and all the ways we can use them to make life better.
